With the way our so called elected representatives have absolutely refused to abide by the american will, vis-a-vis-the war in Iraq, immigration, spending, taxes and self-entitled benefits for themselves. I really believe we will need to eventually have to take back our government from these weasles.

Lord, I hope we don't have to do that but who knows. It's time for people to stand up take to the streets and be counted. I am not blaming conservatives or liberals, republicans or democrats for the condition this country is in. I am blaming this administration, the US congress and every American that displays more loyalty to party than to country.

We have lost all credibility amongst the nations of the world. We are enmeshed in a war that all US intelligence agencies have just unanomously agreed has made the terrorsim problem worse, we have seen an unprecedented erosion of our civil rights and still most citizens sit quietly and accept it. Like the character in the movie years ago we all need to shout out "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take this anymore". Above all else it is time for the citizens of this country to stand up and declare that we are not going to allow ourselves to be divided by fringe groups and fear any longer.

Societial change has rarely changed from progressive thought and discourse. Even in India, the local population following Gandhi had the tar beaten out of them by the British for nearly 60 years.

At least as an American you can bear arms and form civilian Militias to overthrow your government as promised by the Consititution

AMEN TO THAT! I didn't mean to get all religious on this question but your question was so deep I had to spill it how I felt it! Congress is so sickening until they make you want to just vomit! I mean what are they actually sitting up on that high podium for? Half of them are bullies and the half are wimps! They can't agree on sh/t! And they have the American people by the balls! Well for us women by the TaTa's! LOL! I'm am so sick of them. I wish they all would just be abolished. And that goes for the Tax Man Too! He's another sucker I wish would go do a duck!

On the contrary -- we're in the mess we're in in large part because the politicians WERE pandering and doing what we were asking them to, particularly with regard to spending and taxation.

That having been said.....I read once that, throughout history, democratic governments have generally had a lifespan of about 200 years; which to my mind suggests that America as it was envisioned by the Founding Fathers is living on borrowed time....
