He has yet to throw a pass this season where he didn't get clobbered right after (or before) throwing it. After every game he has more bruises than before. The team has scored two TD's, with him running for one and throwing for the other.

It is important to remember that this is a team. In a team atmosphere they either win or lose together. If he is not receiving the protection required from his linesmen then all of the blame can in now way be his alone. If he also has a deficiency in his playing abilities then the team should step up and help him overcome it. He in the same way should be trying to help his linesmen understand what is required from them. The QB is usually the leader of the team. It is part of his job to step up and boost the team spirit and help them get moving in the right direction. Unfortunately, most young men have to mature before they grasp the idea of team. Just let him know that he should never bear the burden alone.

Well, the Coach should know what is going on in his locker room if that is where the blame is taking place. However, if he doesn't, then you as a parent need to let him know what is going on and recommend that he have one of those pep talks with the team to remind them that football is a TEAM game and that when the TEAM loses that it is not one person's fault (there is no I in TEAM). The coach should end the talk with an invitation for those who want to win and work towards a winning atmosphere to stay in the locker room and for everyone who wants to pass blame and complain to turn their equipment in and leave. If the coach won't do this you need to talk to the 13 year old. Watch a game with him and point out how everyone works together to achieve a victory. A quarterback cannot complete passes if the line doesn't block and the receivers don't get open.

Talk to the coach if it bothers you. Football is a TEAM game, and no one indiviudal is ever responsible for the failure (or success) of their team. A good team would be one where everyone on the field does their job well.

I would guess that on an 0-4 team, there are probably several players not doing their job well.

If he's to blame, why doesn't he just ride the bench for future games. It's hard to believe a team has lost 4 games because of one person. But if that's what the team (or the coach) feels, why continue to let him sabatoge the team's record?

He needs to practice his poor performance areas in the meantime.

I am 13 and I play quarterback and I will tell you one thing. He needs to suck it up and find more ways to be effective. Take a farther drop back so he'll have more time or get the ball out of there faster. The big part though is he is the quarterback which means he needs to be the leader of the offense. He must command respect and work harder than everybody else in order to earn respect from his teammates.

He obviously shouldn't be playing qb, im also 13, im debating whether i should be an RB or Qb. I can run hard and fast for my size, and am hard to tackle. i can also throw 65-70 yards

He's 13. Teenagers are dumb, they tease and prod at their peers for any reason. If he wasn't a bad quarterback, he'd be teased because he wears the wrong sneaker brand.

Stop being so dang over dramatic, turn off the Dr. Phil, and let the kid be kid. He'll get over it and it will make him stronger for it.

I'd tell them to see if thay can do better! It's obvious your entire team is having a bad season and to hang it on one person is unfair.
