In 2004, there was media buzz about the idea of Republican Senator John McCain of Arizona being considered for the Democratic Vice-Presidential nomination. McCain quickly dispelled the notion, stating that he was supporting President Bush. However, what if the fantastic had happened with him accepting the number-two spot in Senator Kerry's campaign if it had been offered to him?
For Kerry supporters, would you have been less likely to support a bipartisan ticket, more likely, or the same? For Bush supporters, would a McCain defection cause you to reconsider supporting Bush? What I would like is some rationale behind whatever position that you would have on this question. Thanks in advance.
