I wouldn't think so, other than be completely literate, and possibly have some library skills (shelving books by decimal system, know the literature you are selling, etc.) Also you must be friendly and helpful. I don't know about in the UK but here in America a lot of jobs that seem 'ordinary' need college education. It's weird.
