What amazes me is that any nation is sending more troops to Afghanistan to back us. We invaded that country because we were attacked by forces protected by them. Many Arab nations understood this move. Then we all but abandoned it for the unjustified war on Iraq (refer to the National Intelligence Estimate report completed on Friday). Why would France send troops to assist in an effort we don't find it worthwhile to fully support.
Why is it so easy for us to believe France owes us a thing? Has anyone read the history of the American Revolution? Surely you've heard of it. It's the war for Independence that we would most certainly have lost had it not been for the "cowardly" French.

Afghanistan: with 1,900 French troops,French contributions include troops deployed to the International Security Assistance Force (13% of ISAF), training of the Afghan National Army, Operation Enduring Freedom on the ground (Special Forces), at sea (3 frigates and 1 Maritime Patrol Aircraft), and in the air (6 fighter aircraft, 1 tanker and 2 transport aircraft). Periodically, fighter aircraft are also deployed in the region, with an air tanker, to offer close air support to ISAF and OEF ground troops. Mirage 200D strike aircraft, and Mirage F1CR reconnaissance and bomber aircraft, are presently based in Tajikistan until autumn 2006, in order to support both the NATO Troops, who are gradually expanding the area of operations into southern Afghanistan, as well as US-led coalition forces, including French special forces, who have been hunting the Taliban and Al Qaida remnants since 2001.Like you said, what about more troops???

The French people were against the invasion of Afghanistan as well as the invasion of Iraq as were a majority of the British people. The difference is that the French Govt took notice of the people knowing that if they had gone ahead and ignored them (as the British govt did) they would have been voted out.
There is a Presidential election in France next year.
Figure it out.

The French people are not cowards although they have had cowardly governments. What would be in it for the French to send troops to Afghanistan, nothing. The French are just being their usual pragmatic selves and saying we'll do it our way.

The french are just the french they don't care about anything until it is directed at them a good example is the shipment of weapons into Iraq 2 days before the war .
take a stand and don't buy anything french or allow anything french in your house I haven't since 9/11 and will not again shame we didn't land in Belgium and not liberate them in the second world war as they tend to stay in world cup's longer than conflict's

From Agincourt to Waterloo and on to Algeria and Vietnam they are losers and cowards. They even betrayed their greatest hero Joan of Arc. Better to fight alone than depend on them.

Why should the French get involved? It's not their fight. Also they must be fully aware of the stupid mistake our 'government' has made.
