Probably only during election years...

Actually, probably not even then. OPEC has gotten a taste of the profits and will reduce output in order to maintain higher prices. They are actually considering it now that gasoline has dropped in price.

Plus, as consumers we have now accepted gasoline prices above $2.00 but under $2.50 to be a "bargain".

Unlikely. You probably have seen the end of less than $2/gallon prices. Good chance that prices are about to bottom out, and you'll see this price for gas for about 4-5 months now, unless someone farts the wrong way in Saudi Arabia.

Gas prices are dropping because speculators (People who decide market worth of certain stock) are being investigated for illegally Setting high oil prices. They are in a hurry to get it down to the real reasonable price, because in reality regular gasoline is only worth about 75-85 cents a gallon. We could very well see it get down below 1 dollar, if they keep investigating everyone.

I assume you mean US$1.50 per US Gallon. While I do not know specifically if gas will hit that rate again, it is safe to assume that as supplies diminish and demand increases (think India and China) gas prices continue to trend upwards.

It is going to depend on supply and demand.

I really would love to be able to tell you for sure one way or the other, but sadly, my crystal ball is not working.
