Cantona 7 is misleading you. Racism is not the same thing as political bias. Mortisia knows about the massacre of Armenians and the discrimination against and cultural suppression of Kurds by the Turkish government and about the cultural tendency of Turks to appear to offer a free service and then charge for it after you've used it, and their way of charging a penny here and tuppence there for everything. It is not racist or ethnically biased or whatever PC word you want to use to observe these facts. It only becomes racist if you project that somehow every Turkish person you meet will behave like thier government or their cultural norm.

Now. An ethnic group is any group that identifies themselves as sharing a common origin. African-Americans, for example, became an ethnic group when they started to think of themselves as connected to each other and separate from other Americans by reason of being of African descent.

Race is a term sometimes used to refer to people sharing a particular skin colour or subcolour (e.g. black, white, red, Asian) but has no scientifically valid genealogical/genetic basis. The main modern use of the word is in the concept of "racism", meaning perceived insult to or bias against (or, occasionally, for) a particular (conceptualised) race.

They have similar meanings, but to support or speak ill for a race or ethnicity is harmful for humanism as the above racist girl.
