More than a few gigs, USB removeable storage. Anything less, use CD, DVD-R, network hub (wifi or cabled), unilateral data transfer over paralell cable or just e-mail it, if its small enough.

Depends on how much data needs to be transferred.
If it is multiple gigabites then an external hard drive, but only if you intend on data regularly.
A usb drive can work geat for small data up to a gig
If its less than 2 megabites, then a floppy can be easy and quick

I think the easy way out, is getting USB Drives, or Data CD's depending on what you are moving. There is an option to use Ethernet Port.

Use a flash drive, plug it into your USB port in your pc, save the data and then plug the flash drive to your laptop! Or you can email the data to yourself and pick it up on your laptop.

you ought to community the two desktops at the same time and place all the documents you prefer to bypass from the pc into the pc's shared folder. Then whilst utilizing the pc, navigate to the shared folder and drag and drop all the documents you prefer from pc to the pc pc. you will prefer a swap and a pair of community cables to establish a speedy and ordinary community. it is extraordinarily ordinary to do.

Open up a Gmail account (free) (Google Email - link below). Install Gmail Drive (link also below) on both the desktop and the laptop PCs.
When you install Gmail Drive, it adds a new hard drive in My Computer (called Gmail Drive). This virtual hard drive exists on Gmail's servers (using your 2 GB+ email storage space). You can drag and drop whatever you want to your Gmail Drive, and retrieve it from any computer that you install it on.
Its much easier than flash drives, external HDDs, networking, or even emailing to yourself. Think of it as a magical hard drive that you can hook up to any computer you want. It's the easiest way to move files!
