My first concern would be if you got injured. An injury would be something that could have long term effects, and if you were already injured and did not recover before putting further strain on your body, then you could more easily reinjure yourself.
That said, you can learn bad habits and you can unlearn them later. Some instructors are going to clash and disagree as to technique and even with good instructors disagree as to good techniques and have you unlearn good techniques or at least not perform them a particular way in their presence.
You should be adapatable to different styles of instruction.
Finally, that said, you have the option to change your class from grade to audit, or to drop altogether, but those choices can have impact in other areas if, for example, you are a financial aid recipient.
Ultimately, it's up to you to guide yourself properly on this one.
Good Luck!

I would say that if the problem is just that they're not teaching you much useful, then that's irritating but not dangerous. If they're actively teaching you bad technique, especially if it's damaging your body, then yes, that's dangerous. Bad habits can be really hard to break. More seriously, techniques which put strain on your body can do lasting damage. For example, if you're being taught in a way which strains your leg muscles rather than using your core muscles, then you could end up with some nasty back problems in the future.

No matter how bad you feel the class is, There is always something positive you can gain from the class. Whether it's form, technique, strength, a different genre, Always look for the positives.
Just because the jar appears empty doesn't mean there's still not something in it

A class that is not taught well, (notice....taught.....well), and you said you were in college......
Anyway, even a bad class is giving you practical experience, and it will help you in the long run. You just have to be smart enough to use the good out of the class and ignore the bad.

I don't think you need to worry about them ruining you as a dancer. Obviously you are just beyond the skill level displayed in the college courses and you can take the opportunity to draw heavily on your own strengths. Look at it this way. . . it'll be an easy way for you to pull up your GPA, and afterward, continue on with your outside classes.

If you feel like it's straining your body, then you could injure yourself. Also, if you are being taught improper technique, then it may turn into a bad habit, which will be very hard to break.

Yes! If you're not feeling it girlfriend, it's not going to benefit you at all! Take the steps to do what you need to do in order to feel like you're floating on air. Like that movie with Julia Stiles and the black guy Thompson or Thomas (can't think of his first name) She was so awesome at the end when she combine hip hop with ballet. Do what you need to do in order to get the technique, rhythm and style that you know you have in your heart. Just slide that feeling right on down to your feet!

i don't think so. if you have to do the dance class in school, then just use your expertise to try to spot any bad habits and really try hard not to pick them up. ask your outside tutor for her opinion on this too, i'm sure she'd be happy to help
