If you are running a newer operating system.

Try ctrl+alt+delete..... when your task manager comes up, click on the processes tab, now go to the file menu and sselect run or new task....
type explorer and hit enter.
Can u right click the desktop?
If so, right click, go to arrange icons, and check the "show desktop icons"
Try going to the bottom of the screen with your mouse and see if a double arrow shows up. If it does, click and drag upwards.

Try hitting "ctrl+esc" ..... does the start menu pull up?

This is a very vague question.

If all you are seeing on your computer when you start it up is your desktop but no icons no task bar no nothing then something is wrong with EXPLORER.

A good way to check it is to manually open explorer. When you are at the desktop press CTRL + ALT + DEL when that comes up click on file - new task

type in explorer.exe

If the items popup and disappear then there is a problem with Explorer. If the items come up and stay then most likely malware and viruses caused this issue. Get a good scanner.

I don't know what you have done to get to this, but you always can restore your PC to an earlier date where every thing was working well ... here is how : Start ... Allprograms ... Accessories ... system tools ... system restore ... and then chose a date prior to the mess ... good luck
