If you've worn yourself out trying to explain why someone's great scheme is completely inept; there comes a point where you just have to say, "Look, I think you really need to rethink this and come up with a better plan." That's about as positive as you can be at that point.

WELL you tell them that is a good idea but i have a better plan.OR FLAT OUT TELL THEM THAT WILL WORK in another setting but it wont wash here.

Ask things like:

what would happen to x if we did that

Good idea how would that impact on x

ALWAYS ACKNOWLEDGE AND PRAISE help them to see the issue!

Trust me this works just take your time dont dismiss instantly as their next idea maybe brilliant and you dont want them too embarrased to bring it to the table!

Ask yourself how you would like to be told it dont float!

start sentances with things like I feel.....or I believe.....

it will stop what your saying sounding too much like an accusation or too aggresive

don't get personal/angry etc. - just be straight & be consistent
if they don't like it - don't argue - give them space
