It's great to read that you're in school trying to get a better education and working towards your future. I can imagine that working a full 40 hour week and balancing your community college classes is difficult, especially if you have a family or are in a relationship.

The vast majority of colleges and universities require that undergraduates take at least 12 credit hours (4 classes) to be recognized as a full-time student. At the top end of the scale, they also restrict most students to 18 credit hours or less (six classes), unless you can obtain a waiver (usually from the dean of academic affairs).

Understanding that you are working 40 hours a week, I would stress that you not focus on finishing as fast as possible. Instead, take a look at the number of hours you can comfortably fit into your schedule that will allow you time to perform well in school but also allow you time to decompress from your very busy life!

If you ultimately feel that you truly need to finish as soon as you can, then I would suggest trying to take 15 credits (5 classes) in your first semester and use it as a starting reference. If it seems like it's too much to handle, you could then take 12 credits (4 classes) in the next semester. On the other hand, if you feel like you can handle another class, then tack on another to take 18 credits (6 classes) the next semester.

I have found that in my experience colleges and universities are very helpful in answering this type of question and will make time to talk to you about persuing a degree. Most even have specific departments whose job is to be available for non-traditional students. Take a look into these possiblities.

Hope I've been a help! Good luck with your future endevors!

Wow, that's remarkable. I can't imagine taking more than 1-2 college courses while working full-time. It was hard enough as a college kid living on campus with no other responsibilities, but I can't imagine doing it while working, too. Good luck! If you want to do well and get As, then stick to one or two courses at a time. University classes are much more demanding than community college basics.

I suggest 7-12 credits a semester, for the spring and fall but, for the shorter terms, like winter and summer, just take 3-4 a semester. I'm doing 7 credits with a 40+ full time job. It's hard but if you use your time wisely, you can do it!

if you want to finish fast then i would take 15 credits or more, but with a 40 hour job it'll be very very hard on you.
I suggest taking your time and taking 2-3 credits instead.

I work full time and have a family.. I don't take more than two classes a semester.. for myself. I have found that if I take more than two I do not do as well in all classes.. I just don'thave enought time to focus on everything... taking two fits me well and I get A's and B's...

I'd say at least 3 to finish fast, but take as many online as possible to avoid time spent commuting back and forth, etc...
