I have a steel splinter embeded in the palm of my hand, it's not deep into the flesh but just under the skin. It's set just so I can't get it with tweezers. Should I let it work itself out or cut it out? I don't want it to rust and have to get a shot.

put a bit of glue on it ( not superglue) the stuff kids use. wait for it to dry and then peel it off, hopefully the splinter will come out stuck to the glue. if that does not work use a needle and stick it under the splinter and try and flick it out.

Cut it out or have someone do it for you, metal and glass splinters can travel in your body and cause more damage. Get it out while you can see it still.

You should get a tetanus shot anyway if you haven't had one recently. And if you start cutting at it yourself, you might just push it further in. Go to the urgent care clinic and they can lance it if necessary.

Depends on the size but my hubby has had these and dug them out, if it starts to swell or become painful you need to remove it or have it removed! Is your tetanus shot up to date? Good Luck!

Cut it out...it's gonna suck..but it's your safest bet. Just make sure you keep it clean so it doesn't get infected. There no guarantee that it will work it self out.

cut it out. Even if it isn't rusted, if you are not up to date on your tetanus shot, you should get one.

You should go to the doctor because metal doesn't absorb and can be drawn to all sorts of harmful places.
