Many of you have used History as a way to try to justify and explain Todays war. It seems odd that you have come to see war as a... Tradition.
I wish you all peace of mind, and a Godspeed return to your family and mine.

I DID NOT SACRIFICE YOU!

I fought long and hard not to have you go.

I demanded better evidence that there was a threat before you were to be committed.

I wanted a fully thought-out plan as to what we were doing over there and getting you back home as quickly as we could.

I was ignored, marginalized, ridiculed and discarded.

I am still fighting, but no one wants to listen to the harsh, ugly truth.

We were wrong ALL the way around.

What's this 'us' stuff? Are you in the military? If not, knock of the 'us'.

As for wars, they are fought by young men, as has always been the history of war. We did not choose this war, it was thrust upon us by the barbarian Islamists.

Calling Bush as not having morals is just a smear, a slander an insult that is baseless - the typical action of a child or a Democrat (no difference there). By dismissing other peoples' beliefs and reasons so cavalierly, you close your mind and your heart - it is an action that causes mental and spiritual stagnation.

As for fighting, many of us have already served our country, at the whim of those who were older, and WISER, than us. People who understood about the world and the uses of power, people whom we learned from.

Being against war is all very nice and fluffy, but hardly based on the necessities of security and peace.

I hereby nominate you for the Neville Chamberlain Peace-in-our-Time Award of the Day.

I can only assume by the text of your question that you are under age. Under voting age anyway. Your premise is flawed however, in assuming that only parents vote. Anyone over the age of 18 can vote, therefore there are most certainly men and women fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan who DID vote for George Bush and ARE NOT parents. Also, you make it sound like the people who voted for George Bush knew in advance that he would invade Iraq and that it would become an unpopular war. You also seem to assume that people who voted for George Bush have not been in the armed forces and have not fought in any war.

Where were you during the first Gulf War, Vietnam, Korea, WWII, WWI, Spanish-American War, Mexican-American War, Civil War, War of 1812 or the American Revolution?

Every generation has it's wars that are fought by the young. Your parents went through it too.

My father fought because there was evil in the world, innocent people were suffering and because he hoped that his sacrifice would make it so that his children would not have to fight.

I fought because there was evil in the world, innocent people were suffering and because I hoped the world could be changed and my children would not have to fight.

Our children fight now because there is evil in the world and innocent people are suffering & dying. And, because they volunteered to fight. And many fight because they believe, as our leaders believe, that economic justice throughout the world can best be won by free people in a free society. And, they probably hope, because their sacrifice might make it so their children will not have to fight.

Excellent point. Check out how many government officials (like Senators and Congressmen, for example) whose children have never been in the military--yet they vote for wars that send kids their own children's age to die.

im pretty sure there are many parents that fight in iraq. you are right tho. people who start wars do not fight. they send others to. maybe we should just revolt and the masses will take control. or maybe start a new political party that resists "imperialism".

They won't fight their own war, they believe they must stand back and lead. Not like Wshington, who lead hid troops personally to victory. Our leaders hide behind their desks and their political positions. I mean, why would they risk their lives when they can get countless lower and middle class to go die for them?

Maybe when you grow up you will understand how the world really works. Complain to me when you are making it on your own and out of mommy and daddys house.
