I just got through with an interview with a position I really want in Product Development. How do I know if the interview went well? I was in the interview for an hour and half, they seemed to be very interested in my artistic/ computer abilities, and the VP told me he would call me by the end of this week and asked me when I would be able to start if I was hired. Are these good signs? They also noted I was very articulate *haha, maybe not on Yahoo!answers*
Should I send a typed thank you letter? or should I opt for a hand written letter?

I'd say that it went well. Type the thank you letter it is more professional. Good luck!

I would definately send a thank you letter. Personally, I opt for typed ones over hand written.

There really is no way to know if the interview went well. I used to recruit for a company.

Recruiters/HR and hiring managers always make it a point to make everyone they interview feel good about the way it went. Why? You never know if your first pick or two wil be available when you need them. If you send people away telling them that you are not interested in them and have to call them back a few weeks later, the recruiter will obviously not get a warm reception from the potential employee.

Best of Luck! Send a thank you letter (and a present if you got to know what the hiring manager is interested in. If you have the phone number of their administrative assistant, give he/she a call and find out what the person likes...coffee, cigars, cookies..whatever and send them a small gift. This works wonders)

Hi there... it sounds like the interview went well, but remember.. there may be others interviewing as well... I would be cautiously optimistic. For a professional job like Product Development, I would go with a typed thank you letter - be sure to mention something that was "personal" to your interview - ie. I was really excited when you mentioned in the interview about new product x that is currently in development, and have many great ideas that I would love to share with the team" - something like that. Also send a separate, unique letter to each member of the interview team. Also call at week's end if you haven't heard, just to check in.. just don't call 10X or you will annoy them :) Good luck to you!!

Until the VP does call you back, don't hold your breath. The prospective employer may be very impressed with your abilities, but think that your compensation expectations are unrealistic and opt for someone with 80% of your abilities willing to work for 60% of what you want.

Congrats! It sounds like you were one of the favorites. It doesn't mean that you've snagged the job, but it means that you did well.

I'm always one for a handwritten thank-you note. It's more personal and though it may be less professional by some standards, it's more appealing by others. If you have nice handwritting, do it. If you don't, just type it out.

Good luck!!

Gestures should be enough to tell you. If you still dont get it, you dont get the job!
