First you have to join a party - then get on the candidates list BUT here's how it works. The Party Lists are vetted by the Security Services by and large - look up General Sir John Nichols in Who's who - he helped devise Conservative Party Candidates List.
If you don't join a party then the chances of getting elected are virtually zilch. The whole scam is a nice little gentlemen's club and if you are not a member of one of the parties you will get no publicity - no finance and no votes. so in reality you can't change anything at all - because the Party system means that all the old corruptions and shenanigans continue ad infinitum - nothing hcanges and those in politics are usually those feathering their own nests with a vestige of power which they know that they cannot use effectively to make any real difference.
We somehow need TO MAKE THE ELECTORATE REALISE THAT PARTIES ACTUALLY GIVE US NO CHOICE WHATSOEVER - THE PARTY APPARATCHICKS so run the whole show that whichever party gets into power we always get the same policies with very little real change. If we elected more independent candidates (preferably sane ones) who were prepared to vote according to conscience without the Party Whips interfering and blackmailing / offering enticing carrots of preferment or promotion.
So many thought that Labour would reduce the sleaze and corruption - we can now all see that sleaze and corruption are endemic to politics - everyone everywhere is trying to cosy up to everyone else and make money out of PFI's - Ernie Ecclestone - cash for honours etc etc etc.
Politicians don't do anything other than to feather their nests and play luvvie games around Westminster whilst the real power is devolved to the non-elected who pull their puppet strings. Secret Societies, Lodges, wheels, livery companies et al know that the only way to wield power is to serve those with real power who are serving those above them - thus a modicum of power comes the way of those prepared to climb the greasy pole - but power is never truly wielded. Until the population wakes up to this little game and starts electing those outside parties with real ideas then we are all doomed to keep on the roundabout of sleaze forever.

Find a political party that you are at ease with.Do what is required to join, attend the meetings and take part in as much as you can. They will particularly welcome you if you are young. If you are a trade union member get involved its a great way to learn meeting procedures and will help you in a political party.Next take a keen interest in what happens in your community and become known. Then become a candidate and hopefully you will make your way.It is hard work.Standing as an independent is possible but expensive and you would be very exceptional to make P.M.
Learn about the the Freemasons and similar groups. The Confederation of British Industry and sub groups,The TUC .The list goes on and on.The best grounding is in a big company in HR or the trade unions. It will take time and much effort.

First you need to get active and known in your community. The easiest way is to join a political party and start going to meetings, getting involved in campaigns etc- you can do this on your own as well but the extra support helps and in order to be PM you have to be the leader of the biggest party in Parliament. Then try to get onto the local party list to stand for elections, get people to vote for you. When you have enough support within the party lie, cheat and backstab until you become powerful enough to challenge the current party leader, and when this happens employ the techniques of spin and using the apathy of the general public who will swallow any crap you will feed them ensure your party wins the next general election, which isn't probably going to happen until 2010 so that should give you some time to get things under way.

If you have an allegience to either of the main political parties, join one and be active in local politics.
Look at standing in local council elections as well.
