Is it soaking overnight in vinegar that does the trick on setting colours fast?

you do a first wash with just a cup of salt and that will get rid of the excess dye in the clothing put them back through with normal deturgent and all is done.

Actually, just put a cup of vinegar in the rinse water the first time you wash them and the dye will be set. Use cold water and your regular detergent.

Add a cup of normal salt to the wash, the first time you wash them, and wash them separately!!
