I am 20. I have never had an intercourse. Few days back I bleeded a little from my vagina due to inserting fingers about 3.5 inches deep. I want to know if I am still a virgin. And please tell what does being a virgin actually mean. And how is it lost.

Well, I would say yes you are stil a virgin. You may have just broken your hymen and it is common to bleed after it is broken. Most importantly, if it was someone else inserting fingers, if it happens again make sure their hands are super clean and their nails are trimmed.

you are still a virgin until you have sex. my opinion- a virgin is someone who has not had sexual intercourse yet. (insertion of penis into vagina) I don't believe masterbation or oral is a form of lost virginity. The bleeding however is probably not normal...you should get your self checked out. Then again if you have nails you may have just cut yourself...or since you are a virgin the insertion of fingers to deep could've caused it, at first point of insertion of anything could cause your hymen (cherry) to bleed.

The hymen is a thin membrane just inside the vaginal opening. It allows menstrual blood to pass through. It is intact in virgins but once perforated, virginity is lost. For most women this happens during their first experience of intercourse, but it could be broken in other ways. Horseback riding, bicycling or strenuous sports might be the cause. You may have perforated it with your fingers, since some bleeding usually accompanies perforation. You could always say you went horseback riding!
