Fish do not possess reason, if for example you were to try and net one in an aquarium, it would shy away from the net and attempt to escape. This is done, not because it perceives the danger by using reason, but rather because it has a primitive defense mechanism which causes it to flee.

Well I don't know about regular-sized fish like salmon for example, but Sharks know a good bait when they see one.... Being curious by nature, Sharks often know if their prey/bait is worthy of capture...
... but like all species (especially humans), there are a share of stupid ones (more like inexperienced!) who think the flashy metallic wire/rope is the prize attached to the bait.

The little weenie ones around the dock don't. They see you and come runnin for more. Some of the bigger ones are smarter though. But not too smart... They always seem so surprised when they get caught.

i really dont think so, they go to the bait, they must think oh how nice food and then bam theres a hook in there mouth, maybe in there world its like playing rulet here. i dont know. lol

I dont think so.... I've caught lots of fish... but somedays... they just dont bite and you can see them swimming around your line but they are just not interested.... makes you wonder...
