I mean, when I hear that some guy bought six season tickets and he's unemployed and has to live in a FEMA trailer, there seems to be a disconnect...

Glad to see he's putting that $2,000 government-issue debit card to good use.
I hope he remembers to buy food and water.

Well personally I think that there wasn't any over-hype to the game...This is a city that is still destroyed, rebuilding and missing half the population that it had before the hurricane..

There is a release from everyday life for these folks now that they have their football team back. For those of us that live in other areas of the country I ask you this question...

1. west Coast fans - Say the "Big One" hits and San Fran/Oakland, ect..are now an island in the pacific...what would you want to have a connection to normal life again...maybe sports...even if for just a few hours..

2. Mid west - same question except it is a string of massive tornados that rip through the area causing 81 BILLION dollars in damage to your city and surrounding areas...

Just think about it...The Saints players have given a ton to their community as did many professional athletes that are from the area (see Warick Dunn)...this is their home, these are the people that support them...it is nice to hear a story other than more dead people found, more neighborhoods still in ruins, families torn apart...personally I think it was a nice reminder that people still care about their community and love that area...

And if I am not mistaken...there was a football game on last night..I watched it and loved every second...it was a battle for first place and if you watched the whole thing then you would have learned that Sean Payton has just become only the 3rd head coach in the last 65 years to take a team with three or fewer wins the previous year and as a rookie coach start 3-0...John Fox in 02 and Lombardi in 59...quite impressive and wasn't overlooked last night either.

Oh wait. That wasn't the Superbowl last night? What was all the hoopla about?

I guess it's great the Saints won, but they didn't get the championship. It's only been 3 games. And not for nothing, but like others on here, I just wanted to watch a football game.

I did. All the before game shows, half time shows, all the celebrities being interviewed, you would have thought it was the Superbowl. You are right about there being a disconnect... all that money used to get the Superdome back up and running, there are a lot of homeless people still there needing their houses rebuilt.

yes that game was so over hyped it wasn't even funny, here is my opinion, yes it sucks that Katrina hit the Gulf Coast, but come on if I wanted to here about the rebuilding of the Gulf Coast I would watch the news not a Football game,so what the dude bought six season I could care less

sports has become increasingly more about business. in the eyes of sports marketers, it was a success. in the eyes of the true fan, the hype is ridiculous.

i'm happy to know that the people of new orleans have something to celebrate now. hopefully, the town will be revitalized and can thrive again.

Well, his house has probably been condemned. He poops in a bucket thats connected to a hole in the ground. Maybe rides a bike to wherever he goes cause his vehicle was washed out to sea. And he lost half his family.

Well, if there is a disconnect, then you don't see it.

Yeah, I have to agree there was too much emphasis on the whole Katrina thing. I just wanted to watch a football game, I didn't know it was gonna turn into a PBS telethon.

No, because it was the homecoming a very much loved football team and because it was their first home game since Katrina tore up the dome.
