Sowing your wild oats means when you are young, date as much as you can, including and up to sex, and get it out of your system, because when it is time for marriage, you don't want to be caught in the barn with the farmers daughter with your pants down after you are married.

LOL, I think you mean "sow wild oats" and that does mean having sex with as many partners as possible before marriage. Not a good thing in light of STDs etc.

"Sowing wild oats," means having multiple partners before you settle down with just one. It also has grown to mean being rowdy and drunk and messed up before you go into rehab.
You can see that if you really sowed wild seeds or wildly sowed them, you might get plants (or babies) you didn't intend to plant or make messes you (or your daddy) would have to clean up later.
