No matter what kind of dopplar you use, if you are not at least 8-10 weeks along, you may not hear a heartbeat at all. If you are concerned about a heartbeat you should go see your doctor for the dopplar.

I remember when I was pregnant the Dr let me hear my daughters heart beat. I think I was like 6 months or so. But that was 23 yrs ago. Things are so different now. I heard her through the stethescope and it was so amazing. It was going thump thump thump thump.. almost a mile a minute. I've heard that a fast heart beat usually means a girl.

Yes! I had one my first pregnancy! Search around for cheap rental rates. I rented mine for $25 a month and only used it until I felt movement.

I bought a traditional one, it sells for about $20. I see them every where. I didn't like it, it was a peice of garbage. I know you can rent them and they are clearer to hear.

yes, that thing is hit or miss. Sometimes I would hear it and sometimes I wouldn't. I wasn't able to hear it at all until about 22 weeks.

I don't know what kind mine was, but it didn't work. All I could hear was any noise in the room echoing.
