my favourite european city is oslo in norway. it may sound expensive and it is, but it is possible to stay cheaply too. i'm going there again in october, taking my ten year old with me. she's hoping it snows again like last year. there's lots to do and see, e.g. ski jump, museums, boat trips on the fjord. most things are within walking distance as well. i've also been to bergen and that was quite nice as well.
