Wow - it has to be quitting a federal job when I was 19 to go back to college. It ended up being the biggest mistake of my life. I would most likely have never been downsized (multiple times) and would have ended up retiring with over 40 years of service and a great pension.
The only thing that makes me feel better about that decision is I believe things happen the way they are meant to happen. Even things we don't understand. For some reason, I believe if my life had gone any way other than the way it has gone, it wouldn't have lead to me adopting my daughter - which is the very best thing I've ever done with my life. The very best thing. I might have still ended up adopting, but I wouldn't have adopted the daughter I have. I honestly could not imagine life without her.

Sociopaths are the only people who have no regrets. I regret many things, but it doesn't do me much good to live in the past. I'd rather live today.
