I asked this yesterday, and did everything suggested...any more ideas? Yesterday, the kids were fighting in the yard, and I accedently started to put gas where the oild goes. I caught my mistake almost immediatly, but yet, SOME went in. Now, it won't start. I've drained and filled new, drained and filled new...about 3 times. It's not the driving kind...just a push one. Could it be possible that when draining, so oil shorted the spark-plug? I pulled and cleaned it, but still...nothing. Could I need a new one?

I'm Back!! My husband said just pouring gas in the oil would not hurt it as long as you didn't run it other wise it would lock the engine up, But if you drained it a couple times like you said it should be alright. He said it could have fouled the plug, so go get a brand new plug. Cleaning that one once its been fouled with gas is'nt good enough. It couldn't be anything else but the engine has locked, but you definitely had to run it before drinaing it for that to happen. Then you need it overhauled or just buying a new mower at walmart would be about the same price. If you need more advise send an email I'll ask him. He works at a small engines dealer. Good Luck.
Well my husband will be home in 30 min. he is a lawn mower mechanic I'll see what he says. I'LL BE BACK!!!!!!!!

Let the spark plug wire hang next to the spark plug , but don't let them touch , that's to see if you are getting fire . Check the gap on the plug , make sure its at the proper gap setting . Take the breather filter off and try starting that way, if it doesn't start put a drop or two of gas in the carburetor and not much more than a drop or two either or you'll flood it out , then try starting. Yes you might need a new plug . Your plug could be what we call FOULED , if it is fouled you will need a new one. Your plugs already come pre- gapped so just stick it in an start it up. Word of advice don't hold the spark -plug wire while your trying to start it trust me you won't do it again , and it is right to say is it getting fire because on the pistons up stroke it is an explosion in the chamber that makes the piston go back down .As with anything you start to fix get the little things out of the way first ,like put gas in the tank , check the plug , always good to have a good plug, and check the oil make sure its not over full or else it'll look like you are spraying for bugs ,it'll smoke bad . clean the filter with warm soap and water let it fully dry before putting it back on.I hope you didn't try and start the mower , if you did while your getting a new plug get a ring kit also for you piston.

Okay these are all the things i do to my mower i clean the carburetor with gas .. Next new spark plug.. Next make sure there is the right amount of oil in don't over fill... Then i dump out the old gas and put new in... And usually the mower starts right up.. You can go to any Walmart and pick up a new spark plug for about 2.00... Good luck

You did not mention if you started the mower after putting the gas in the crank case. If you did not start it then there should be no related reason for the mower not to start. Otherwise, I will have to assume that it does turn when you try to start it. If this is the case, the only thing I can see is that the gasoline washed out the cylinder and allowed the rings to score the cylinder which will cause a loss of compression. If this is the case then a rebuild or replacement will be your only solution.

Why don't you try to put some starter spray on the carburator (doubt any lawnmower is fuel injected) You can buy it at any car parts store, careful though the stuff is explosive.
Remember to make combustion you need fuel, air and spark. If you can establish 2 of the 3 are being provided you know your problem.

You ruined your mower the second you put the gas in the oil tank...you have to buy a new one. Repairing it wouldn't be a sure fix...

you are in need a new gas clipping vehicle. Plant that one in the middle of a circle of bricks and make it a shrine to stupidity. And get a goat.

i think your best bet would either be
a) take it into a repair shop and find out how much it would cost to fix
or
b) as you said...get a new one!
