Most clothing that should be dry cleaned are the synthetics, and anything that will shrink when washed and dried, like wool. While many tags will say that the article is machine washable, most of them look better being dry cleaned. You can send anything to be dry cleaned; it's easier on the fabric, so it lasts longer. However, it is expensive if you are sending to a shop. If you have the kits to do it at home, then clean whatever you want that way.
