Yes, at least a 7407 Sage 2. Usually the Certificate in Education.

The new government initiative which has been implemented this year is that all teachers, regardless of their specialist subject, who want to work in the public sector e.g. FE colleges, must have a Certificate in Education PCET.

I've been in Further and Higher education for 27 years.

The teachers need to be taught to teach.

Unlike Primary and Secondary school teachers, most people join the other institutions later in life and have other qualifications in the subjects that they intend to teach.

They certainly will in the very near future but I'm afraid I don't know the exact date when this will be statutory. There is a new level of certificate which will be needed (in UK.)
