The general rule of thumb is that your liver metabolizes alcohol at a rate of 0.015% blood alcohol content per hour. For the average person, that equates to about one drink an hour. To be on the safe side, however, you should wait an hour and a half to two hours PER DRINK before getting behind the wheel of a car.
