It all depends on how comfortable you are in heels.
If you don't like attracting the extra attention, then go for lower heels and wedges, under 2".
If you like being tall, and you don't mind if some narrow minded idiot stares, then wear whatever heights you want.
Personally, I think that anything over 4" starts to look trampy, not to mention uncomfortable as anything, but that's me. If you are secure enough to wear a 5" heel (or taller) then go for it. It's all in your self confidence, and what your feet can tolerate wearing.
If you're not sure how you will feel, then get a cheaper pair of high heels to start with. Payless sells larger sizes, and wide widths if you need it. Buy a pair or two for a trial run, then if you don't like them, you didn't waste a ton of money. If you loved the higher heights, then invest in the better pairs.

a wedge would look a lot better if your that tall, try a smaller wedge though, you dont want to make yourself even taller, then you would be towering over everyone,
