What are the functions of the programs InDesign, Illustrator, and GoLive, I make flyers and magazine articles, I also design websites. I have just purchased the Adobe web bundle, and I am trying to design a magazine article, and I am not sure which program to use... Can someone please describe the purposes of all of these programs.

Go with InDesign. Illustrator will make you some humming graphics though. Photoshop is a great tool to edit and correct pictures. Don't forget if you're using photos and they're supposed to be color, make them CMYK (process) NOT RGB! And if they're supposed to be black, use grayscale, NOT RGB! I'm emphasizing that, because a lot of people think it doesn't matter. Really, truly it does. An rgb photo prints horribly in any actual press format. A printer, copier, or whatever makes it look good, but it doesn't work otherwise. And don't forget spellcheck! - sorry, got carried away. I'm a professional designer and I have to deal with people's files all the time!
