No but he's received death threats!

No, and the rumour that he was killed by bullies is false too. Interestingly, there is even a rumour that he was actually technologically inserted into the ad posthumously at the request of his bereaved father! That's false too.

I promise I don't work for Snopes btw. However, I've got no problem promoting them, as I think they're one of the most useful sites I know of!

PS (a few minutes later): It seems I got so engrossed in my Snopes research that other answerers got there first!

No he has not killed himself I read he had been receiving death threats due to the advert which apparently annoyed some people that much they want to kill him and now he is in hiding and has to have a bodyguard or something. World of madness!

hi everyone just did a bit of research on this one (cos got nothing better to do) and it isn't true according to this website .
A quote directly from this website
"The current advertisement has been well received by the vast majority of our customers. We would also like to take this opportunity to confirm that the lead boy within the advertisement is well and continues to live in his native South Africa. "

According to this site it also say that the boy could in fact be computer generated creation.

A lovely thought, but just an urban myth! There are a lot of myths about that particular obnoxious teen, for instance that he got the part in the ad because he was dying of an incurable disease and his last wish was to be famous. Go to Snopes.com to check it out.

He is alive and believes that people are fools for not being able to distinguish the difference. I think we live in a sadistic world full of jelouse losers. This kids rocks! He is making more money than most dream of working at McDs and he is also a gymnast. Meanwhile there are some who choose to be victims and smoke crack cocaine.
