I think they have no fans. Did you see the turnout for there home game last Saturday against Watford. I don’t know what the figure was but the ground was practically empty. The only reason Wigan survived last season was because of money. Wigan are not rich in the Chelsea sense of the word but in Dave Whelan they have a very rich man running their club. Sure they did not go out and pay 20 million for Ronaldo but within the market they are operating, Wigan are very well off. They spent significantly more than the teams around them in terms of wages. I’m sick and tired of Wigan being held up as the poster-club for newly promoted teams. For Christ sake I heard a Reading fan the other day say they should be the model for clubs outside the Premiership – are you kidding me? How about Wigan and Reading stay in the Premiership for five or six seasons, like Leicester City and Derby County did from the late 90’s or like Charlton Athletic are currently doing at the moment before they start shouting about how great they are. I hope Wigan get relegated.

Dave Whelan's plaything. A club low on tradition with very small long-term hardcore support.

They have briefly emerged from the shadow of Wigan RLFC in recent years as the town's premier sporting team but this won't be sustained. They will go back to the lower divsions once the JJB money dries up and normal service will be resumed.

I think they are quite a good side, I like the way Paul Jewell runs the team, although I do think he made a slip-up selling Jimmy Bullard. I don't think they will get relegated this season, they will probably finish mid-table.

They are not bad, they reached the finals of Carling Cup last year and will finish somewhere between 10th - 13th position. They shouldn't have sold Bullard and Chimbonda.
