It showed up in my toolbar, but it doesn't have an icon. It's some sort of "chat" thing, but I can't get rid of it. What is it? How can I get rid of it? Thanks.

it's an Internet Relay Chat client, and one of the most recent downloads you installed had this hidden inside of it, most likely. Best bet to rid yourself of the annoying program is to go to START>Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs
then scroll until you find the mIRC program and click the button beside it for add/remove. It should remove it for you.

mIRC is a shareware Internet Relay Chat client for Windows, created in 1995 and developed by Khaled Mardam-Bey. This was originally its only use, but it has evolved into a highly configurable tool that can be used for many purposes due to its integrated scripting language. ...

you have not been hacked somebody has installed that onto the pc. i would remove it from the add/remove programs in the contol pannel via start if u want to remove this.

mIRC is a chat client .. and you more than likely have not been hacked. Go into your Remove Progams and see if it's in your list, then remove it from there.

well i had the same problem from yahoo messenger. it was something like geocities.com.. some virus. i just restored my computer. it helps but you can no longer have yahoo messenger because it will affect it again. you have to find something good to get rid of the virus. i was told that it doesn't get rid of the virus but it just restores your computer back to the way it is. you can do this by going to the start button and looking for an icon that says system restore. click on it and follow the rest of the directions from there. goodluck and try looking for a virus scanner to get rid of those viruses. norton doesn't work unless you have someone to help you with it. goodluck!
