1995 opel astra 2.0 well here goes at first it would start run for a couple of sec. then it would die .now it wont even start and the check engnie light comes on..so what could be the problem ??

could be the radiator hose. could be alternator. could be the battery connections. Probably you should take it into a shop. They should be able to look at it without charging you anything. just make sure they know not to work on it without asking you first. I had a garage do that to me once. I mean, it needed to be fixed, but come on. What if I didn't have the money?

You need a battery and an alternator. You are looking at spending 300 to 500 dollars.

what is the code from the engine light being on. if the crank sensor(CKP) is bad it senses nothing so it cant fire spark(check for spark) check for fuel too. fuel pump is shot maybe, make shure gas in tank, just because it says it has fuel, it may not.
