coz they love to imagine how will it be on another person's shoe. and thought that if they'll be on that shoe, they will outperform the one they impersonate.

Hey! I am currently in the process of hopefully becoming an actor and the reason is that I felt I had a calling to do it (as pretentious as I know that sounds! What I mean is, I tried all sorts of other things and didn't enjoy them and would not have been happy spending the rest of my life doing them, and acting was always at the back of my mind), I am happier on the stage than anywhere else, it is a lot of fun and I'd rather be doing that with my time than anything else.

There is a certain amount of truth, at least in my case with the personality issues business, its nice to get into other people and see what makes them tick, it gives you some perspective on yourself.

What it definately, definately is not about is money. I am fairly resigned to the fact that I will probably be skint and unemployed for a lot of my working life. But hey, I love the people and the work and I hope that I can entertain people.

Mostly, just cuz I love it.

It's just a job.
It is the non-acting public that attach so much importance to it.
I have been a actor for more than 20 years and simply want to work.
The only people I meet who want to be famous are not actors and who generally have personality faults.
Other jobs have come along but acting is what I do best.
It pays all my bills and a little bit more.
A show tonight in Scotland features another jobbing actor like myself, a young hopeful and me as the main character.
It invloves four hours of driving, a two hour performance and pays my rent for a fortnight.
It's not exactlty glamorous and between myself and the other old soldier, we have racked up hundreds of TV appearances, done our bit in a few movies and trudged around in provincial theatre for donkey's years.
Some of the answers here are ignorant and offensive and smack of personality defects and/or jealousy.
I challenge these nasty people to train as an actor, find an agent, fill a CV with EVERY discipline and still be busy at the age of fifty.
And no, you have never heard of me but that does not make me anything other than an actor.
The whole celeb thing is for idiots and if you buy into that, then you deserve to have your personality altered and your own life debased in comparison to these puppets.
Now sod off the lot of you.

Some of us are born to entertain......those who don't do it don't get it, but all of us enjoy being entertained. For the person who said they can't hold down a real job - many of us have our day jobs and act at night. It is really hard to be an actor and actually get paid enough to live off of - FEW people can do it. It isn't something that you just walk into. You shouldn't make derogatory comments about something you obviously know nothing about.

I have always wanted to be an actor, and not for the fame and possible money. I enjoy entertaining people. But the main reasons for me are that its an esape from the real world, i can be someone else and leave everyday pressures behind. Also there is this great feeling you get when you step on stage, you just cant beat it.

Actors get paid for never growing up.
It is the Peter Pan complex.
For every success there are 5,000 who never make it.
I speak as a former actor, who many years ago decided it was not the life for me. I Made some good life-long friends, but on the whole too many were a nasty bunch.

They have talent. They use it. Ta-da. Actors

Why do people become scientists? They are smart. They use their smarts. Ta-da. Scientists.

Why do people become friends? Cause they care. They use their care. Ta-da. a friend

So how do people become lazy? They slack. They slack all the time. Ta-da. Their lives are ruined.

If you have a skill or talent you can use, use it now. Greatness lies in bringing out your potential...

just an added remark. Bringing out your potential isnt easy. If you want to know how, email me at nikdude35@hotmail.com.

Because we are attention seekers at heart. We love the thrill of everyone looking at us. Its nothing to do with the acting. Plus we are all a little bit lazy/weird to have a real job. We're artists darling! P*ss artists more like! Lol
