Typically it's the maternal genes that you have to worry about with a woman. My husband is in line for twins and this is our fifth pregnancy, we're waiting until tomorrow to find out how many are in there! I think it's more prominent if your mother's side of the family has twins. I'm not too worried about it since twins are on my husbands side and not mine, but it's still in the back of my mind! Good luck!

No it's not. What true is that this gene gets passed on your mother's side. So if your aunt had twins and she's your mom's sister - that's an indication that you have a chance to have twins as well. However, if this aunt is your dad's sister - what happened to her has nothing to do with you.

The probability of having twins is genetic. As far as I know all the genes in your family will contribute to wether you have twins or not and the genes in your partners family will also contribute to the twin factor.

Well your aunt has the same genetic makeup as your mother so i dont think that it would be any different. If twins run on either side of your parents family, your chances are heightened to conceive twins.

I have twins that are 17 yrs. old a boy & a girl and twins do not run in my family nor my husbands. The only one in my family is my cousin on my fathers side, his oldest sisters daughter had the first set of twins in my family.
So think about it how is this hereditary?
God works his magic in mysterious ways. If you are blessed to concieve twins best wishes to you and your family.

You don't get your genetic make-up from your aunt, unless you're into some sort of wierd covert gene therapy stuff....
Your genes come directly from your mom and your dad, and all their moms & dads before them.

That does sound weird. And if I'm not mistaken genes for twins can run in both sides of the family - male and female.

No, twins are purely freaks of nature, not genetically linked freaks of nature.
