We'll never know. The mystique of "dying young" would be gone, but he would have had the chance to turn his life around, to make a comeback, to do something new. Maybe he would have had a whole new career!
Same for John Lennon.
Heck, Marlon Brando was kind of washed up in the 60s and came back with the Godfather!
Life is full of second and third acts.

Maybe NO, He was in his waining years in the music industry. He had already made one come back in the late 60's early 70's but people were getting tired of him. That is why he went to Las Vegas. He could still make a pile of money doing lounge acts and he was always a good draw for any of the hotels along the strip.
In order for him to stay popular he would have had to release a new album that appealed to his fan base as well as the next generation. I don't think he could have done it. In a way the fact that he died actually revitalized his career. That's why I say NO he would not be as popular if he was still alive. However, If he is not dead like some people think and he miraculously reappeared. That would set the music industry on it's ear. No only would he have pulled off the greatest hoax ever but that would regenerate his career.

Prior to his passing, Elvis was already changing his style of singing to fit into the 70's trend. However, I think he would have been semi-retired but the time the eighties style rolled in.
Yes, tastes in music have changed over the years but the fact that his records (CDs) are still selling (big time), means that whether his vocal style is liked or disliked, everyone within reach of a radio or TV would know him today.
I can guarantee, that his music will be played for many decades to come.
He was an icon of his time and had a voice distinct from any other.
So "Yes, Samsmum", you would have heard of him.

No. The mystery of Elvis' death is greater than the man. Wright City, MO has the Elvis Is Alive Museum if you didn't know.

I think if Elvis had lived yes he would have been popular still today and there would have been a lot more fab music to listen too. He would also not have let Lisa marry wacko jacko either.

My Dad remembers Elvis as a sad old middle aged man. By the end of his career he was making sappy date movies and singing ballads - a long way from his rock and roll early days.
He was washed up before he actually died. It's only the iconic status of glamorous death that's made his legacy what it is.

I think he would, simply because he had a very strong following, really hardcore fans, and they would definately have him up there. Probably someone like Rick Rubin, would make him great again, as he did with Johnny Cash and now Neil Diamond.
