who invented the exacto knife? and when?

I'm doing an expanded definition of an exacto knife for a technical writing class.

The Exacto knife was invented by Mr. I.M. Verisharp, and named for his son Exactamundo. He wanted to name it for his daughter Honeyspoon, but it just didn't work out that way.
