It is funny, I blame the americans, they are the ones who use these misconceptions.
We do not all live in igloos, we do not all love hockey, we do not all eat poutine.
We do not all say "eh".
You should check out the show "talking to the americans" with Rick Mercer. Funniest show on the earth. Shows how ignorant some people can really be.

No offence, but it was probably southern americans who have never seen real snow... It is difficult for people who have lived in sun-areas all year round to imagine the cold front, rain turns to hail turns to ice turns to snow, etc...
Basically the misconception that Canada is an iceberg is only true about 1/2 of the year (November to April, approx.).
I don't know about other areas, but in the overpopulated metropolis of Montreal, our summertime is heavy in humidity, making it so hot and sticky you don't feel like doing anything except going to a mall for the air conditioning.
Cheers

LOL I eat poutine, I love hockey, I sometimes say "eh", but I would never ever sleep in an igloo. The French people think we ride on dogsled and dress like Indians, what can you do?

Yeah man, we live in trailers. 'Eh. We smoke pot and drink beer, hunt and fish. And everyone wants to be a trucker, farmer or a biker. Oh, and we eat at Tim Horton's cuz it's open 24 hours a day.
It's all trade, no skills. LOL

Wait, you're saying that they don't?
If it isn't true, some American probably made it up to make Canadians look bad.
