It's easier to point fingers.

Everyone loves a villain to rally against; so if you can mobilize your base by painting the other side as evil. It's easier to motivate via emotions than by intellect.

during the time of the revolution, they were called the federalists and the anti-federalists..... But for the most part there no formal parties that divided peoples opinions like there is today. Values and ideas make up both parties... It is easier to blame people than to do something that may actually matter.....
