The Vietnam war protest scene at the Washington Monument, who is the guy in the American flag shirt speaking to the crowd? Not the actor, but the actual person from the 60s who spoke out against the war. Or was it just a fictional character? Anyone know?

While in Washington to receive his medal, he accidentally goes to an Abbie Hoffman rally and meets Jenny again, by this time a hippie. During the award ceremony, President Lyndon Johnson asks Forrest where he was shot. Forrest replies "I was shot in the buttocks, sir." After Johnson jokes about wanting to seeing the wound, Forrest pulls down his pants to show him.
