My cousin has been married to a man who is twice her age for about 3 years now. (She is her husbands 3rd wife) Our family has pretty much dissapproved of this relationship from the start. He is very controlling, but to our knowledge, has never been physically abusive to her. They currently share a 4 year old daughter. He constantly badgers her about unfaithfulness (her cheating on him). He is always pessimistic about life. She had recently been giving us clues that she was fed up with the relationship, and we really thought she was going to get a backbone and leave. Well, to make a long story short, she announces to our family yesterday that she is indeed pregnant again! I know that she is unhappy about the situation, and I found out through a close friend of hers today that my cousin's husband questioned the paternity of the baby the second he found out. I want to give her some useful advice. I know she will not terminate this pregnancy. Any ideas?

Before doing anything, tell her to seek legal advice, If she leaves without it she might lose custody of her children and also tell her to DOCUMENT EVERYTHING!!!!!!

It's her choice to stay with this man. There might be more going on than you see on the surface. Perhaps she feels she IS better off with him than without him. I suppose, the best thing the family could give her is their support, and letting her know that no matter what her decision was, they would help her stand by it. Get it through to her that while she should stay with him if this is what she wants - it IS fully within her power to leave, and if she does so, she can count on her family's help and support.

My advice is to let her know that you are there for her whenever she needs to talk. She has to be the one to decide that she has had enough. Talking about her husband will only make her mad; even if she is unhappy, she probably still loves him. She will have to decide to stay married or get a divorce. Kids or no kids; its her choice.

you can tell her to watch him closely, usually if someone accuses their partner of being unfaithful, the accusing party is the guilty one. Any way, tell her life is too short to be miserable.

She can still leave him and get child support!

yes - how about minding your own business?
And tell the rest of your intrusive family to do the same!
