it will help to biuid up interests that require knowledge. Reading books or articles that give you information about something useful. It is important to memorise the iformation well, and there are techiniques to do so: it depends on how well you clearly associate the information with the ways of memory storage in your head: if you make a clear mental picture that is easy for you to remember then you should be able to retrieve it easily. It's not just playing chess and stuff: you could read books on physics, read classic literature which can be boring but so what, phsychology, biology, etc. Widen your interests and keep yourself updated on stuff. And dont't forget to get out and have a good time also!

Simple.

Have a thirst for knowledge and a drive to achieve that. Not only will you encounter things that will stimulate your brain and get it thinking, it will be an amazing fun adventure when it is discovery.

Challenge yourself and your mind. Stretch your boundaries!! Yes, chess and other such games can make you smarter but ONLY if you're interested in them!!
Find what you like and challenge yourself in that area.

After all, you don't have to be Mr. Know-it-all, just good at what you love. Good luck.

Read more to improve your spelling and punctuation (as well as your vocabulary and logical skills concerning sentence ordering)

Playing games like chess is a good mental workout. It should help you learn to think more logically and strategically.

Education is what it's all about ultimately, but of course that doesn't have to mean education in a school.

Read quality literature, classical as well as modern. Try and mix with many people of differing ages and experience. Listen to what others say but formulate you're own opinions and learn not to be self conscious about airing them - as long as you don't offend! Travel as much as you can, visit other countries, learn their cultures and try to understand where THEY are coming from. Arts and classical studies do help develop one's ability to view arguments from different perspectives. Having come from a technical background myself I feel more exposure to classical training would have benefited me enormously. Playing lots of chess will just make you a better chess player! Best of luck.

Thereby ... hopefully they would educate you enough to make you smarter... oh but dont forget you must then fly around the world again to make sure all this comes about.

Okay; I refuse to be smart and comment on your spelling - doh!

Basically, it's all about applying your self. There are mental exercies that you can do; Sudoku, cross words, etc. There're even books you can buy.

Also night classes; become better educated - that will give you a degree of wisdom. BUt it's all about making the effort and taking the time.

Anything that will stimulate your brain will help with intelligence (I presume this is what you mean by clever). To develop children it is recommended that they are stimulated with games, reading and new experiences. This is not much different for adults. Try and do at least one new thing every month, read books, do puzzles, visit different places - anything that will stimulate your brain. O.K.?!!

I know how to spell really - I am clever you see? being clever is not something you learn - it's something you acquire. You cannot force the human brain to be clever, it just happens.
