Does age difference really matter in a relationship between an older guy and a younger girl - A small age difference on either side of the age of consent threshold - IF the relationship is romantic but non-sexual?

i believe we are truly in love, we met at a youth club i was the leader she was a member, she is 10 now i am 17 it seems a big gap but all we ever do is chat and its because she told me how she sat alone at the benches at school i felt sorry for her and i thought i could help - but then every time she smiled i got a pleasant rush in my stomach - just like a classic romance novel- i think the mistake was meeting outwith the youth club but i just love making her happy - i get a kick when shes happy - nothing else!!!

The love and relationship is not matter of age, is matter of feelings, if you both feel you must be together then you are right, there are few things to overcome, but if the love is true and is strong enough, and you break all the barriers congratulations, your relationship has future.

From the standpoint of reason, NO!!! the age does not matter, as long as they are both over 13...no one should be able to say anything about their relationship no matter what the form. UNFORTUNATELY the legal system has yet to develop to the point that it has caught up to having a level of intelligence higher than a wilted fern and so THEY will have a problem with ANY association between people when each of them is on different sides of the "age of consent". I say this..."The heart wants, what the heart wants." After that, nothing else matters.

My step daughter just turned 20 she married a man that is 30. We had a problem at first with the number difference until we met him. they are a good match. She is emotionally mature and he is not as emotionally mature ( I don't mean that in a bad way I am just stating facts) They are emotinally on the same level. Age is just a number and in a relationship it makes little difference.
You do need to becarefull now that I know what your ages are. Even if you mean no harm you need to think about how it looks to the out side world. I think that in your situation you need to make sure that there is ALWAYS someone else in the room with tho two of you. If she EVER said anything even if it was not true about you touching her in an inappropriate way you might end up having to register as a sex offender. I know that sounds like I am overly blowing this out of porportion but it has happened. please be careful. If you are a mentor then keep up the good work but for your sake please be careful

well if you were both older then yes age doesn't matter. i think it would matter in this situation because the girl is 10 and you and her are at different points in your lives which really makes a difference; i know from experience. she has so much growing up to do inside and out and i dont think that it would ever work; maybe for a while but sooner or later it would end and just be a waste of time, just be friends with her.

A non sexual romantic relationship? Sounds strange, doesn't it? But, yes, it is possible.
I had such a soul mate relationship with a devout Thai Buddhist women, 20 years my junior, before she died of ovarian cancer at the age of 48; by then, having become a Buddhist nun.

depending on the age of the female.age does not matter as long as the man, is older i am talking about grown adults. on the other hand if teen related the man, should be older as well but only by a couple of three yrs. depending on the age of the woman at that time.

well i was in a relationship with a 42 yr old but now is getting ready to marry a 387 year old on his birthday in December... so i would say no... but she is just 10 years old wait til she get bout 17 and if y'all are still friends id say go for it, but for now no.... BTW I'm 21

The relationship is romantic but non - sexual i s possible if one or both partners are Weirdos.
