I am 8 weeks pregnant and I have been experiencing really bad heartburn. The doctor told me to take Tums, but Tums actually made me throw up. I have had really bad morning sickness for the past couple of weeks and I can only keep select things down. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I will try the Alka Seltzer tonight since I am in school right now. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Oh and just so you know, I'm not in high school, hahaha, I'm in college. And I already tried the soda crackers, everyone suggested the crackers, but they just don't do me right for some reason.

Have you tried something else like Mylanta, Mallox,or Pepcid 10mg. If tums makes you sick maybe one of those would help .I know how you feel.

Hun I suffer from heartburn alot. Tums is a quick cure, but take prilocec daily and it will stay at bay. Heartburn can lead to many other problems. If you go to your doctor, they can prescribe something for it, but unless you have really good insurance, they won't pay because there is so many things over the counter that you can use.

I have had four children and for nausea crackers ,but you already tried that . I can't think of anything else for nausea , but if your lucky it will go away soon. For heartburn though try milk believe it or not milk was the only thing that worked for me . But I do have one more suggestion baking soda put a couple of teaspoons in a cup of water it gets rid of sour stomach , indigestion and heartburn, I am a nurse , but always ask your doctor first none of these people know what medications you might be on , so ask your doctor before trying anything OK Ok Ok!! Good Luck sweetie!!!

I had the same problem when I was pregnant I got it every night and it was bad. And my son had a head full of hair that is for sure. I used the tums and for the most part they did work for me however another thing that helped was eat small amounts of food through the say and wait at least 30 minutes before you lay down. Sit up and that should help out.

Sounds like your little one may have a head full of hair, it does cause heartburn. Try soda crackers and or dry toast. Also try eatting several small meals through out the day, this may help you with the morning sickness. Also with the heartburn take all hot spices out of your diet. Good Luck and Congrats!!!

You could try eating crackers and drinking milk, the crackers with absorb the acid and the milk will coat the affected areas to help relieve and prevent. If you can't do tums, have you tried rolaids or mylanta or pepto? Good Luck and Congrats on your Pregnancy!

I would try to drink some milk after you eat. That helped me because of the calcium that is in it. The calcium is the reason that you doctor told you to take the tums. If that doesn't work then go t oyou doctor and see what else he/she has for you.
