Why do people remove shopping carts from stores?

Question

I saw a shopping cart on the side of I-95.. What gives?

They sometimes have to walk to the store, so they make off with the carts, then bag ladies and other guys that are homeless get them to push their stuff around in.
There's one guy in Austin who looks just like Santa Claus. He lives around a bus stop, and his cart is piled high with stuff covered with blankets. Bet it's not TOYS. heh

Because they get p!ssed off at the supermarket when I drive my car inside.

I don't know why some people leave the parking lot with the carts, unless it's because they are homeless.

when i worked at a bar we used a shopping cart stolen form a kroger to take the liquor bottles to and from the bar and locked em up so the cleaning crew wouldn't drink on the job

i hate when people take electronic carts when they dont need them or leave em outside...my mum in law had a stroke & impossible to shop w/out one

They take them all the way home with their groceries and then they just leave them in the street. I don't know why it would be on the interstate though unless there are houses close to there.

.I have seen people use them to pick up cans along the highway, have seen people who could not afford to hire a moving van, move their belongings in them, so maybe these people are embarrassed to return them. Then their are some that just do it, for meanness

Maybe somebody's car broke down and they used the cart to bring parts and supplies.

They think only of themselves and their needs. They don't think about the poor schlub who has to go and retrieve them. I hate those people.
