It depends on how tough it was for them to get into the finals.
If you are talking about popularity contests, or talent shows, like American Idol, then it is no doubt that both finalists have their own unique strengths which make them both winners in their own rights, only that just one can win.

Because it is up to the Singaporeans to decide who should be the last two standing for the finals. Only the last 2 are the best. And both are considered as winners because both will be getting the same deals from the recording company or perhaps the runner up will have bigger deals than the champion.

well because.....well depending on the competion.....it would take to long for a show down and once there finally is just one winner EVERYONE will be really bored with the whole ordeal why are you one of the 2 that would really suck....sry........hope that was a good new point of view
