No, science can't "prove" god doesn't exist.

Can I prove it? No, I can't.

But since the burden of proof in this case is for those who claim that god does exist, I needn't prove anything.

What science can do is provide alternative explanations for phenomena that people claim proves god's existence. Since these explanations explain things without invoking god, those "proofs" of god's existence fail.

No way. Science, you, I, nor anyone else can ever prove non existence. When a person is asked to prove non existence, he will ask the other person to prove existence, if he can't then the first guy will say that's my proof of non existence.Of course, it isn't proof of anything. He must do the proving himself.
I challenge you to prove the tooth fairy does not exist. You'll say that you put the coin there yourself. But that only proves the fairy wasn't in that one house. It does not prove the fairy wasn't in some houses. Again, non-existence is unproveable.

I think science proves that God does exist.

Science never says that there is no God. Yes science wants proofs of existince of anything. The existance of God can not be proved physically or logically. But it can be experienced by keeping faith on God. Any hesitation in one's mind about God brings the bad experience but believing on God doesn't require anything than feeling from heart. Phychologists also says that beliving on God keeps us balanced, free from tensions and worries, improves our confidance etc. At last it is not a thing to prove it is a thing of experience !

In order to either prove existence or non-existence, a definition is needed that will allow an actual test. Unfortunately, the believers in a God can't seem to agree on a definition that is specific enough to actually conduct such a test. Until they can, there will neither be a proof nor a disproof. Don't hold your breath.

Can u ever prove that "God exists" ? If u can't then how does the question of proving his non-existence come?

Mere logic can prove that the god described in the bible cannot exist. You don't have to search every square inch of the universe to know that there are no (as an example) "married bachelors" or "square circles" -- it's logically impossible for something to have two mutually exclusive traits like that.

In a like manner, the biblegod is described as being "infinitely compassionate and merciful", yet threatens to torture you forever and ever if you don't do what he says. Logically impossible -- a mere "humanly" compassionate and merciful being would never do such a thing, much less an infinitely merciful one; therefore, the god as described in the bible cannot, will not, and does not exist.

Nope. In my opinion, science and physic are proof that God does exist. I don't see how any of it could exist without a higher power.

I also believe that God used science and evolution to create the earth and human beings. If there is a God...and He created science...why wouldn't He use it to do His miracles?

Probably not. You can't prove a negative. It's like asking to prove that there are no teacups in orbit around Mars.

The same question applies to the other side of this issue - can religious people prove that god exists, to the satisfaction of non-religious people?

You cannot prove a negative.

However, the lack of evidence of God. And, the ability of science to explain many things previously explained by religion make a good case against religion.
