Birds do it, bees do it, it's just a euphemism for doing what comes naturally to all creatures, namely, sex. And besides, it sounds better than saying the minks and the monkeys

Reproduction. Without them having sex and reproducing themselves with babies, we wouldn't be alive for much longer.
