I would swear that yahoo answers is a "people at work with down
time or sneaking web access at work" kind of thing. My guess is the majority of people on YA during the day are at work, and I would say the number is 65% or higher, with the rest stay-at-home moms and the unemployed(And I'll be unemployed soon
if I waste any more time at work on here!)
so, just a simple poll........do you work while on here?
stay-at-home mom?
unemployed?
in school?

I noticed there's mostly women on here,
that could mean a few things....
1.) Lots of poorly paid receptionist-type jobs that women unfortunately occupy
mostly are on here(Don't think you'll find any high powered executive or someone making the bucks spending valuable work time on here.) But, if its an "on the clock"
(think receptionist) type job, sure you can be on here all day. You aren't making a whole lot, and are paid to stand in one place all day and greet people.
2.)Women are more expressive, and like
to give advice as well(think yenta the matchmaker, or Dear Abby), so this is right up women's alley!
3.) Women are the ones that stay home, for the most part, if kids are little and a couple makes the choice of staying home.
That skews the female ratio even higher.

sara, I'm a receptionist too, though I feel stupid being a male receptionist...the bankers her look at me like dirt here, but thats cause they see support people as lacking skills.....and they keep this job in temp status permanently, so we are not even worthy of benefits. My pay isn't bad, though......I get $17 an hour, and $27 an hour overtime for about 4 extra hours over
the 40.....so its not bad pay i guess. And I read mostly, or go on the internet, which is why I'm on yahoo answers....I can't complain as it comes out to about $42,000
a year! If you can handle the people ignoring you and not saying hi when they walk in, it really isn't bad, and pays rent on a nice apartment out here.
So, yes, there are a few male receptionists out there!

angels, if I had my own company or contracted my work, I sure wouldn't be on here! Only reason I'm on here is because I'm being paid reasonably well on it.
I can do what I want here, and not worry about scouting out for work!
